During this project, we were matched with a project that aligned with our group's interests. With most of us being Cell & Tissue Engineering concentrated, we were given a computational biology project to model cardiomyocyte intermediate states.

  • The problem we were trying to address was to capture cardiomyocyte intermediate states computationally.

  • The actions we took included teaching ourselves RStudio and various other coding languages, learning what a Gene Regulatory Network was, how to create one, and how to improve upon the current state in a short amount of time. We also had to be able to communicate our ideas effectively to an audience that is unfamiliar with this field.

  • This project has taught me the skills to learn new and challenging topics independently, as well as to work in a 6-person team effectively. This project is still in progress and the final results will be shown at the beginning of December.
